The Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO) warehouse in Faisalabad has been embroiled in a massive wheat heist, with a staggering 2 million kilograms of the grain going missing. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched a crackdown on the matter, arresting four officials from the PASSCO team. According to FIA officials, the wheat, valued at 7 billion Pakistani rupees, was allegedly sold to private individuals after being smuggled out of the warehouse.
A team of FIA officials, led by Sub-Inspector Ajmal Hussain, conducted a raid on the PASSCO warehouse in Tandlianwala, Faisalabad, on receiving a tip-off about the missing wheat. During the raid, they discovered that 2,000 bags of wheat, each weighing 100 kilograms, had been replaced with sand. The officials also found 4,000 bags of wheat, weighing 50 kilograms each, and 8,000 bales of wheat missing from the warehouse.
The FIA team, accompanied by PASSCO officials, conducted an inspection of the warehouse and found that 2,000 bags of wheat had been replaced with sand. The officials believe that the heist was orchestrated by a private individual who sold the stolen wheat to other private parties.
The FIA has registered a case against seven individuals, including the PASSCO in-charge and three guards, for their alleged involvement in the heist. The agency has also initiated an investigation into the role of the zonal head of PASSCO.
