Google has unveiled ‘Digital Sahafat,’ a new initiative aimed at enhancing the digital journalism skills of Pakistani journalists. In collaboration with Tech Valley, a local social enterprise, the program seeks to equip 1,000 journalists across Pakistan with advanced tools, training, and resources to create accurate and compelling digital stories.
This initiative is part of the broader Google News Initiative (GNI), which has been active since 2018, partnering with news organizations in over 100 countries. The ‘Digital Sahafat’ program will provide journalists with state-of-the-art tools and training to produce high-quality digital content.
The launch event for ‘Digital Sahafat’ will take place in Islamabad on September 4, with key addresses by Kate Beddoe, Managing Director of Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC) News Partnerships at Google, and the Tech Valley team.
This partnership reflects Google’s ongoing commitment to supporting journalism worldwide. Tech Valley, founded in 2015, aims to foster connections between Pakistan’s public and private sectors through technology and innovation.
