KARACHI – Prominent Pakistani actor Haris Waheed has opened up about the early days of his career, revealing the intense and unethical “advice” newcomers often face, which he says targets an individual’s self-confidence.
Speaking in a recent podcast, Waheed discussed the mental pressures he endured when he was just starting out in the entertainment industry.
He recalled a disturbing incident where he was advised to take shortcuts for physical enhancement. “An assistant director once advised me to get injections to improve my physique,” Haris shared. According to the actor, the person insisted, “Just going to the gym won’t make enough of a difference; you will have to get injections.”
Waheed, who is often praised for his compelling portrayal of negative characters, further revealed that the same individual also suggested he use skin-whitening creams to “look more screen-fit.”
The actor emphasized that he refused to bow to this pressure. “I didn’t take any of that advice seriously and stuck to my principles,” he said with a laugh. “I didn’t get injections or use any creams. I am happy with my natural skin tone and my real personality.”
