A critical shortage of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) across the country has prompted the Petroleum Pump Dealers Association to write an urgent letter to the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), requesting immediate regulatory intervention. The scarcity threatens to severely disrupt the nation’s logistics and transport sectors.
The letter from the Association details that petrol pumps have been facing a severe shortage of High-Speed Diesel for the past week. Dealers report that HSD is not being supplied according to the mandated quota, leading to considerable difficulty in meeting consumer demand and daily targets.
The communication further highlights the widespread inconvenience, stating that vehicles are being forced to wait for many hours to receive HSD. The Association suggests that this situation points towards a potential attempt to create an “artificial shortage” of petroleum products in the market. The dealers have urged OGRA to investigate the causes of this scarcity and ensure a steady and uninterrupted supply of High-Speed Diesel.
