Karachi — Former captain and legendary all-rounder of the national cricket team, Shahid Khan Afridi, has surprised the public by announcing that he has “changed his mind” and wishes to stay away from politics. This declaration follows a period where his public statements and stances on political issues had attracted significant attention.
Clarification on Social Media Criticism:
In a widely circulated video from a recent event, Afridi was questioned about a specific segment on social media that runs negative campaigns against him and other “true heroes of the country,” despite his consistent support for Pakistan.
In response, Shahid Afridi took a firm stand:
“If I cared about what those people say, I would never speak at all.”
He further clarified that his objective is not to gain likes or views by spreading falsehoods on social media. He stressed, “My social media is not my source of income.” This statement indicates his commitment to ignoring negative social media trends and clearly defining his priorities.
His public stance is viewed as a clear effort to disengage from the complicated relationship between the world of sports and politics in Pakistan.
