In a significant hardening of its stance on the Ukraine crisis, France has indicated its readiness for a potential future military deployment in support of Kyiv. This major declaration came directly from the French Chief of Staff, General Pierre Schill.
Speaking to a French broadcaster, General Schill stated that if the need arises, France is prepared to deploy military troops by 2026 as part of a “security guarantees” framework.
The statement was not just a political signal; it was also a message of military confidence. General Schill emphasized that the French army is fully capable of managing three simultaneous potential threats.
He clarified that these responsibilities include the potential deployment in Ukraine while concurrently fulfilling its other strategic obligations within the NATO alliance, marking an exceptional level of commitment to Ukraine and a clear message to Russia.
