The former US Vice President, Kamala Harris, has strongly condemned the US military intervention in Venezuela, labeling it as “unlawful and reckless.” In a statement, Harris emphasized that President Trump’s actions have not made America safer, stronger, or cheaper. She highlighted that the US government’s focus on regime change or oil wars is a demonstration of its power, but the cost of this policy is borne by the American people.
Harris also pointed out that the US public does not want war; they are tired of being fed false information. She stated that President Trump is risking American lives by spending billions of dollars on military operations, destabilizing an entire region. Harris called for a leadership that prioritizes the American people, reducing labor costs, upholding the rule of law, and promoting unity.
The US Ambassador to the United Nations had previously stated that the US government would not reduce its efforts to combat the flow of narcotics into the country. Harris countered that the US should not be allowed to portray itself as a self-appointed judge and jury, and justify military action against any country.
According to a recent survey, only 33% of Americans support US military intervention in Venezuela. The Prime Minister of Greenland, Jens Frederik Nielsen, said that his country cannot be compared to Venezuela, and expressed hope for improved relations with the US.
The Liberal Democrats have called for a legal review of the US actions in Venezuela and criticized the Trump administration’s silence on the matter as a form of political protection. Harris expressed gratitude to those who have expressed concern over the violent protests outside her home and to the intelligence agencies for their special cooperation.
