Marshall Harris, a former TCU football player turned artist, faced a significant loss after his storage units in Fort Worth were robbed, resulting in the theft of valuable memorabilia and art supplies.
Harris, known for his career as a defensive lineman at TCU and in the NFL, has transitioned into a successful studio artist, specializing in hyper-realistic drawings and sculptures. For years, he stored his art supplies in two units at a Public Storage complex near 6100 Bryant Irvin Road.
While away, Harris received a distressing call from Public Storage, informing him that his units had been broken into over the weekend of May 5. Suspects had rented a unit to gain access to the complex, then proceeded to burglarize multiple storage units, including Harris’s. The thieves made off with his art equipment, family belongings, and irreplaceable memorabilia from his football career.
The loss, totaling tens of thousands of dollars, prompted Harris to file a police report. Despite the setback, he maintains a positive outlook, viewing the incident as a message to declutter his life. However, he also expressed concerns about the security of the Public Storage facility.
Fort Worth police confirmed they are investigating potential leads but provided limited information due to the ongoing nature of the case. Harris’s experience serves as a reminder to remain vigilant about security, even in seemingly secure storage facilities.
