Delhi: The ancestral land and property of former military president Pervez Musharraf, located in Kotana village in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, has been auctioned under government supervision. Following formal purchase, the land has been registered in the names of new owners.
According to Indian media reports, the ancestral agricultural land and property under the name of former President General (Retd.) Pervez Musharraf and his family has been completely removed from government records after being registered to others following the auction.
The report states that 13 bighas of agricultural land in Kotana village, located in the Baraut tehsil of Baghpat district, were registered under the names of General (Retd.) Pervez Musharraf and his family members. After the auction, the land has been transferred to the new buyers.
It was reported that the 13 bighas in Kotana were originally registered under the name of former president Pervez Musharraf’s brother, Dr. Javed Musharraf, and other family members. However, after their migration to Pakistan, the land and property were declared “enemy property.”
The property was jointly purchased for 13.8 million Indian rupees by Pankaj and Manoj Goyal from the city of Baraut, along with JK Steel from Ghaziabad.
Regarding the registration of the new owners, it was reported that Prashant Saini, a supervisor from the Enemy Property Custodian Office in Lucknow, came to Baraut tehsil and formally registered the land under the names of the new buyers.
Following the sale of General (Retd.) Pervez Musharraf’s land, contractors Pankaj, Manoj Goyal, and JK Steel from Ghaziabad have become the new owners.
Pervez Musharraf’s parents, Musharrafuddin and Begum Zarin, were originally residents of Kotana village, and their marriage also took place there. However, in 1943, they moved to Delhi, where Pervez Musharraf and his brother Dr. Javed Musharraf were born.
Later, after the formation of Pakistan in 1947, the family migrated to Pakistan. However, their property remained registered as “enemy property.” The ancestral home and agricultural land were located in Kotana, and the report states that the land portion belonging to Pervez Musharraf had been sold, while the agricultural land of his brother and other family members still remained.
Their ancestral home in Kotana was registered in the name of Pervez Musharraf’s cousin, Humayun. Similarly, the land of Dr. Javed Musharraf and other family members was still registered under the Enemy Property Act.
