Former President of Sindhi Association of North America (SANA), Muhammad Paryal Soomro, Passes Away

New Jersey: Muhammad Paryal Soomro, former President of the Sindhi Association of North America (SANA) and a highly respected figure in academic and social circles, passed away in New Jersey at the age of 82. He was laid to rest at a Muslim cemetery in New Jersey, where hundreds of relatives, friends, and community members attended the funeral. He was the father of renowned Dallas community leader Zamir Soomro and the father-in-law of Dr. Fariha Qazi Soomro, a prominent leader of the physicians’ association APPNA. The late Mr. Soomro is survived by his wife, four sons, two daughters, and ten grandchildren.
Muhammad Paryal Soomro devoted a significant part of his life to serving as a highly trained scientist at the Atomic Energy Research Center in Pakistan. After moving to the United States, he established himself in the Tri-State area as a successful solo actuary in pension planning, earning wide recognition for his expertise. His professional accomplishments, coupled with his intellectual and social guidance, left an enduring mark on both his field and his community.
In their message, the bereaved family said: “We pray that Allah Almighty grants our beloved father the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous, forgives his shortcomings, elevates his ranks, and blesses us with patience and strength to bear this loss.”
The Sindhi Association of North America (SANA), in a condolence resolution, expressed deep sorrow and grief over his passing. SANA President Dr. Maqbool Halepota, General Secretary Asad Ali Shaikh, and members of the Executive Committee paid tribute to his services. According to the SANA Media Cell: “Dr. Baryal Soomro served as SANA’s President from 1995 to 1996. Through his tireless dedication, determination, and commitment, he strengthened the organization and rendered historic services for the Sindhi community. His leadership and vision made SANA stronger and inspired countless friends and colleagues to actively engage in community service. He will always be remembered as a genuine human being, a friend, and a leader. We pray that Allah Almighty grants him eternal peace in Jannat-ul-Firdous and gives strength and patience to his family.”
In his personal statement, Dr. Maqbool Halepota said: “The passing of Mr. Paryal Soomro is a personal loss for me. During a critical phase of my life in the early 1990s, when I had just arrived in New York, he proved to be a guiding and encouraging figure. Together with my dear friend Aziz Soomro, I would often visit his home. He always welcomed us warmly, introduced us to the community, and gave us encouragement that became a milestone in my own journey toward success in this new homeland.” He further added that Mr. Soomro’s leadership, kindness, and services will always be remembered, and the legacy he left behind will remain a source of inspiration for generations to come.
The death of Muhammad Paryal Soomro is not only an irreparable loss to his family, but also to the broader Sindhi American community and the Pakistani diaspora in the United States. He will forever be remembered as a scholar, scientist, leader, and community elder whose contributions enriched countless lives.
