A foreign tourist has died and two others are missing following the collapse of an ice cave in Iceland. According to Sky News, one injured tourist has been hospitalized but is now in stable condition.
The incident occurred when a group of 25 foreign tourists from various nationalities were exploring the ice cave. A large rescue and response team has been deployed to the scene.
Due to adverse weather conditions, search and rescue efforts for the missing individuals have been paused until morning. Local police chief Sveinn Kristján Rúnarsson reported that the challenging conditions and location within the glacier have complicated the operation, requiring manual efforts.
Rúnarsson noted that ice cave tours are conducted almost year-round by experienced guides, though accidents can still occur. He emphasized that safety assessments are made by professionals to ensure the well-being of participants. All tourists involved in the incident were confirmed to be foreigners.
