Flight operations at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport resumed early Friday morning following a temporary suspension, with the first flight arriving from Lahore marking the official return of air traffic.
According to the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA), a private airline flight from Lahore landed at Karachi Airport at 2:01am, shortly after the restoration of operations. The airport had been closed since 12 noon on Thursday due to undisclosed security or operational concerns.
In an official statement, the PAA confirmed that flight operations at Karachi airport have been “restored immediately”. The spokesperson further clarified that all other major airports across the country remained operational throughout the disruption.
“Passengers are advised to stay in close contact with their respective airlines for updated flight information,” said the PAA spokesperson.
Passengers are urged to monitor airline advisories as normal schedules resume over the coming hours.
Moreover, the PAA cancelled the Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) regarding the closure of routes in Lahore’s airspace, restoring 15 air routes for regular air operations. According to details, the decision facilitates smoother air traffic management and resumption of full flight schedules.
India also reportedly closed 27 airports to flight operations as a precautionary measure amid fears of a retaliatory attack from Pakistan.
