Netflix has revealed the initial glimpse of its new Pride and Prejudice limited series, featuring a star-studded cast including Emma Corrin, Olivia Colman, and others. The streaming service unveiled the first look at the women of the Bennet family, which also features Freya Mavor, Rhea Norwood, Hopey Parish, and Hollie Avery.
Additional cast members announced for the series include Rufus Sewell, Louis Partridge, Jamie Demetriou, Fiona Shaw, Daryl McCormack, and Siena Kelly.
Euros Lyn is directing the series, with Dolly Alderton penning the script. They are joined by executive producers Emma Corrin, Laura Lankester, Will Johnston, and Louise Mutter.
When the six-episode series was announced in April of this year, Netflix confirmed it would be a “faithful, classic adaptation” of Jane Austen’s beloved novel. Dolly Alderton expressed her enthusiasm at the time, stating, “Once in a generation, a group of people get to retell this wonderful story, and I feel very lucky that I get to be a part of it.”
Her statement continued, highlighting the enduring appeal of Austen’s work: “Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is the blueprint for romantic comedy – it has been a joy to delve back into its pages to find both familiar and fresh ways of bringing this beloved book to life.” She concluded, “With Euros Lyn directing our stellar cast, I am so excited to reintroduce these hilarious and complicated characters to those who count Pride and Prejudice as their favourite book, and those who are yet to meet their Lizzie and Mr Darcy.”
Currently, the Pride and Prejudice miniseries, starring Emma Corrin, does not yet have an official release date.
