In recent weeks, Action 13 has been actively seeking clarification on the matter. The city has confirmed that the property owner has erected a fenced barrier at the site and is currently endeavoring to obtain the necessary permits for the debris cleanup process.
Local residents have observed the debris accumulating since November 2023 along West Bellfort Avenue and South Post Oak, prompting concerns in the neighborhood.
A protective barrier has now been installed to restrict access to the heaps of building debris.
City officials have verified that the property owners are presently navigating the permit application process to address the cleanup.
According to reports from the city, progress is being made towards achieving compliance, although a definitive timeline for resolution remains elusive.
On Monday, the Houston Public Works Department conducted a follow-up inspection, while Permitting authorities are slated to contact the owner to verify the disconnection of the gas line, a prerequisite for approving the plumbing permit.
Furthermore, the Department of Neighborhoods conducted a checkback at the property on Monday, reporting some advancements in the cleanup efforts, including the segregation of debris into distinct piles and the absence of stagnant water on the premises.
