He further stated that the PPP could have ended the politics of other parties through its own work. The roads of Karachi are dug up, people are forced to buy water, and there is no security system. He said that they were in the federal government, they had fought to get the Karachi package worth 150 billion rupees from the federal government, the work on the package had started, but the Chief Minister of Sindh wrote a letter to stop the work because the money was being spent through the MQM-P.
Mustafa Kamal said that no street or shop was closed after the incident, they were discussing the constitutional and legal issues, not engaging in a dispute. He stated that if the province failed to protect its people’s lives and property, the federal government had the right to intervene. He added that the people had signed the 18th amendment, so it was wrong to criticize them.
The MQM-P leader stated that they had signed the 26th amendment before joining the current federal government, which stated that the powers of the provinces would be transferred to the districts. He claimed that the PPP was not willing to accept the amendment, and the PML-N had agreed to include it in the 27th amendment.
He added that the Prime Minister had called a meeting and said that the PPP was not accepting the amendment, and they should be made to accept it. The Standing Committee discussed the issue, and the PPP stated that they would not support the 27th amendment if their amendment was included. Mustafa Kamal said that the PPP was not willing to accept the amendment, and they were asked to withdraw it, but now they were being asked to include it in the 28th amendment.
The MQM-P leader stated that the members of the federal cabinet had supported their constitutional amendment, and the amendment would transfer the powers to the lower levels, so why were they demanding that Karachi be handed over to the federal government?
Sindh’s senior minister said that a judicial inquiry commission would be established under the Commission of Inquiry Act 2017. The police had registered a case against the project manager Asghar Sindhhu, safety officer Daniyal, and site officer Ahmed Nawaz.
The Federal Minister for Education and MQM-P leader Dr. Khalid Mehmood said that the MQM-P’s demand to hand over Karachi to the federal government was not unconstitutional. If it was considered treason, the relevant article should be deleted from the constitution.
In Islamabad, a judicial magistrate heard a case of domestic violence against a minor domestic worker, Razwana. The Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, chaired a meeting to brief her about the incident in Lahore.
The Sindh government’s senior minister said that they were writing a letter to the Chief Justice of Sindh High Court to establish a judicial inquiry commission.
