Rana Tanveer Hussain, the Federal Minister for Food Security, has stressed the need for significant structural changes in the country, stating that revising the 18th Amendment has become a “need of the hour.”
Speaking to the media in Sheikhupura on Monday, the minister argued that the amendment has led to governance problems that must be addressed.
Rana Tanveer also revealed the government’s intention to modify the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award. He specified that this change would be implemented before the next local body elections, asserting that updating the award is essential to meet current-day requirements.
Touching on foreign policy, the federal minister delivered a strong message to Afghanistan. “We want Afghanistan to help us in ending terrorism. We will not let Kabul become a puppet of Delhi,” he declared. He added that Afghanistan should “learn a lesson from India’s recent, humiliating defeat in the war.”
Regarding the Kashmir issue, he reiterated Pakistan’s stance, demanding that India must recognize the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination as per United Nations resolutions.
On the domestic political front, he confirmed that the PML-N has made a final decision to sit in the opposition in Azad Kashmir rather than joining the new government setup.
