ISLAMABAD— The Federal Judicial Complex in Islamabad resumed operations today, just two days after a devastating suicide attack near the courts attempted to paralyze the capital’s legal system. A large number of lawyers and litigants returned to the courts, though the atmosphere remains heavy with caution and grief.
In response to the terrorist incident, the District Administration has implemented stringent security measures across the judicial complex. Entry protocols are strict: only lawyers’ clerks showing official identification cards are permitted access, while ordinary litigants (Saelin) must undergo thorough body searches and have their complete personal details registered before being allowed entry. These comprehensive security layers underscore the seriousness of the threat faced by the sensitive judicial hub.
Meanwhile, the investigation into the tragic suicide bombing—which targeted a police vehicle outside the G-11 sector courts two days prior—is proceeding rapidly. Security and investigative agencies have concluded collecting all crucial evidence from the crime scene to trace the network responsible for the attack. The bombing resulted in the martyrdom of 12 individuals and injuries to 38 others. The head of the suicide bomber was also recovered from the site, providing vital evidence for the ongoing forensic and investigative work.
Despite the reopening of the complex, the immediate judicial proceedings are still being affected. The local Bar Association has announced a continued strike and boycott of court proceedings for today and tomorrow. This action serves both as a mark of solidarity with the victims’ families and a protest against the deteriorating security situation in the federal capital.
