The federal government has retracted its decision concerning the appointment of Abdul Khaliq Shaikh as Director General (DG) of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
According to an official order issued by the Ministry of Interior, the notification appointing Abdul Khaliq Shaikh as DG FIA has been withdrawn. Just a day prior, he had been assigned the additional charge of the position.
This abrupt reversal has raised questions regarding the internal decision-making processes within the government concerning key law enforcement appointments.
Previously, the federal government had issued a notification regarding high-level transfers and appointments within the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
As per the Ministry of Interior’s notification, Jan Muhammad’s charge as DG FIA was revoked. Grade 21 officer Abdul Khaliq Shaikh was appointed as the new DG FIA.
Abdul Khaliq Shaikh was granted the additional charge of acting DG FIA, while simultaneously serving as the DG of the National Police Bureau.
