The Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) in Islamabad has reached its initial required strength, marking a significant step towards its full operational capability. Two additional judges, Justice Rozi Khan and Justice Arshad Hussain Shah, took their oaths of office today.
FCC Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan administered the oath to the two judges during a formal ceremony held in the Conference Room of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
With these recent inductions, the total number of sworn-in judges in the Federal Constitutional Court, including Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan, has now reached seven. Four other judges—Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Aamer Farooq, Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, and Justice K K Agha—had previously taken their oaths. The completion of the bench paves the way for the smooth and timely hearing of constitutional matters across the country.
Meanwhile, as the new court prepares to commence full operations, the reallocation of courtrooms within the Islamabad High Court building is currently underway. FCC Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan is now assigned to Court No. 2, while IHC Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar will continue to preside in Court No. 1. Judges Aamer Farooq and Hassan Azhar Rizvi have been designated chambers on the Second Floor. To facilitate this crucial transition, the cause lists for two IHC judges, Justice Muhammad Asif and Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro, have been cancelled for the day.
