The federal cabinet meeting, initially scheduled for today, has been postponed. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who was to chair the meeting, will now lead it on March 26th.
The meeting is anticipated to address the nation’s political and economic landscape, alongside a 12-point agenda.
Key items on the agenda include the appointment of members to the Pakistan Ordnance Factory and Heavy Industries Taxila Board, and the approval for signing a convention on international dispute resolution.
Furthermore, the cabinet will approve an agreement between Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Hungary’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, aimed at facilitating trade activities for diplomatic mission members.
Approval will also be granted for a cooperation agreement on e-mobility between the Ministry of Industries and Production and the International Finance Corporation.
The meeting will review a summary from the Ministry of Interior regarding directives issued by the Islamabad High Court.
The Whistleblower Protection and Vigilance Commission Act, 2025, will also be discussed, and a decision will be made concerning the assignment of additional charge to the Chairman of the Pakistan Tobacco Board (PTB).
Additionally, the cabinet will deliberate on the completion of the Resources Mobilization and Utilization Improvement Program – Policy Program II, and approve an Income Tax Amendment Bill, 2025, which aims to reinstate tax exemptions for full-time teachers and researchers.
The cabinet is also expected to endorse the decisions made by the Cabinet Committee on Privatization on March 11th and approve the decisions of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) from meetings held on March 13th and 21st.
