A woman in the Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh, India, has tragically died following a botched surgical procedure performed by an intoxicated, unauthorized practitioner who allegedly used a YouTube tutorial as his guide.
The victim, identified as Munishra Rawat, was brought to a local, unregistered clinic by her husband after suffering from acute abdominal pain. The clinic owners, Gyan Prakash Mishra and Vivek Mishra, falsely diagnosed her condition as kidney stones. They proposed an immediate operation, initially quoting a fee of ₹25,000, which was later negotiated down to ₹20,000.
The fatal surgery was conducted the following day. According to police reports, Gyan Prakash Mishra, while reportedly under the influence of intoxicants, attempted the procedure by watching a surgical video on YouTube. Displaying extreme negligence, he failed to address the alleged kidney stones. Instead, he inflicted severe incisions, slicing multiple critical veins and blood vessels linked to the patient’s stomach, intestines, and food pipe.
Rawat’s condition worsened drastically immediately following the operation. She succumbed to her injuries and debilitating pain the subsequent day.
Following a complaint filed by the victim’s grieving husband, law enforcement secured the body for post-mortem examination. Police officials confirmed that the establishment was operating without legal authorization. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against both suspects, Gyan Prakash Mishra and Vivek Mishra, under charges of involuntary manslaughter (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and relevant sections of the SC/ST Act.
Senior police officers confirmed that both accused individuals are currently absconding. Authorities have launched a manhunt and expressed confidence that the alleged perpetrators of this brutal act of malpractice will be apprehended swiftly. The incident has sparked outrage among the victim’s family, highlighting the dangers posed by unlicensed medical operations in the region.
