Pakistan’s aggressive opening batsman Fakhar Zaman has made an interesting proposal just days before the Champions Trophy 2025.
During an interview with Salman Butt on PCB’s podcast, Fakhar suggested that if a six crosses 90 meters, the batsman should be awarded two extra runs.
Team Absence and Babar Azam Speculations
When asked about his absence from the team and speculation regarding Babar Azam, Fakhar clarified that he was sidelined due to an injury. The delayed diagnosis made his comeback difficult. He added that he was working on regaining form by playing domestic cricket, as returning after an illness felt like playing cricket for the first time.
Dismissing the notion that his tweet about Babar Azam was linked to his selection, Fakhar said that many people had asked him about it, but fans tend to believe what they prefer.
Opening with Babar Azam in Champions Trophy
Speaking about opening alongside Babar Azam in the Champions Trophy, Fakhar praised his shot selection in ODIs and emphasized their aim to perform exceptionally against top teams.
He acknowledged the media hype surrounding matches against India, stating that while players face additional pressure, they treat it like any other match, focusing purely on skill competition rather than any special preparation.
Memories of the 2017 Champions Trophy
Recalling the 2017 Champions Trophy, Fakhar said he was a junior back then but learned a lot from captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shoaib Malik, and Junaid Khan. He credited Sarfaraz for guiding him on multiple occasions.
