A court in Faisalabad has handed down a significant penalty in a case involving dangerous food adulteration. A man found guilty of mixing harmful substances into spices was sentenced to 16 months of rigorous imprisonment and also fined 1 million (10 lakh) rupees.
A spokesperson for the Food Authority stated that the verdict was announced by the Senior Civil Judge (Criminal Division) in a case registered at the Gulberg police station.
According to the spokesperson, the case was initiated after an inspection uncovered a large batch of contaminated chili powder. Authorities seized 400 kilograms of the hazardous product, which was prepared and ready for market supply. This judgment serves as a strong warning against those who compromise public health.
