An explosion at a shop in northern Laos killed four people, including Chinese nationals, as confirmed by Beijing’s consulate general in the country.
According to the Chinese consulate, the blast occurred on Friday at a Chinese store in Oudomxay province.
The cause of the explosion is still under investigation, as reported by both the consulate and local media.
Laos National Radio stated that three more people were injured in the “fire incident and explosion” at the shop in Nasao village.
China’s state-run news agency, Xinhua, reported that the explosion caused “significant damage” to surrounding houses.
The Chinese consulate also mentioned that China’s ambassador to Laos, Fang Hong, is making “all-out efforts” to assist the injured and support the victims’ families.
