Parachinar: Authorities have issued evacuation notices for residents of four villages in Lower Kurram due to escalating security threats.
Affected Villages and Actions Taken:
- Villages: Ochit, Manduri, Dad Kumar, and Bagan.
- Reason: Worsening security situation.
- Government Action: Once vacated, search operations will commence to ensure security.
So far, six families have already been relocated to Hangu, temporarily staying with relatives.
Recent Wave of Violence and Impact
Over 150 people have been killed since November 2024 due to ongoing clashes in Kurram.
- 40 people died in two convoy ambushes.
- Repeated attacks on security convoys and civilians continue.
- Severe shortages of food and medicine have led to additional deaths.
Peace Agreement and Violations
Despite a government-brokered peace deal mandating:
- Surrendering of all weapons.
- Removal of bunkers.
Violence persists, including a recent attack in which:
- 5 security personnel and 4 drivers were killed.
- 36 trucks were looted, and 19 were set on fire.
Terrorists Arrested
Security forces arrested 10 suspected terrorists linked to the February 17 convoy attack in Kurram.
- The suspects have been moved to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.
- Security forces continue search operations for more militants.
Kohat Commissioner Syed Motasim Billah Shah and DIG Police Kohat Abbas Majeed Marwat supervised the safe evacuation of the convoy.
- During the operation, four security personnel were martyred, while four others were injured.
Authorities are now intensifying security efforts to restore peace in the troubled region.
