Emily Ratajkowski, the acclaimed actress from “Gone Girl,” has recently offered candid insights into her current relationship status during a chat with Elle. The star openly discussed her life journey since coming out as queer in 2022.
Embracing Community Beyond Men
“Not centering men is really wonderful,” Ratajkowski began. “In general, in our world, men have somehow filled this space, but what I found instead of it is community.” Sharing her evolving perspective on romantic interests, the Hollywood figure continued, “I still like men. I just have zero straight men in my life, unless they’re a romantic interest.”
Redefining Priorities and Core Relationships
She further elaborated on her newly defined priorities: “In the hierarchy of needs, that’s at the top of the pyramid, which is nice. [Men are] pleasure and fun, but not a part of my core. The rest of my life is community with other women and queer people, and being a mom.” For those unfamiliar, Ratajkowski was married to “Good Time” actor Sebastian Bear-McClard from 2018 to 2022. The former couple shares a three-year-old son, Sylvester Apollo Bear.
Motherhood and Subversive Styling
Meanwhile, the 34-year-old actress also confessed that she “really enjoys” styling herself as a mother. “It’s a little bit of a walk to my son’s school now, so I can’t wear heeled shoes,” she told the outlet. “But, when I was in the city, we lived two blocks from his preschool, and I would often just leave for work from there. At that point, I was hosting my filmed podcast, so I would be in an outfit.” Concluding her thoughts, Emily Ratajkowski shared, “I think that’s actually one of the ways I really enjoy being subversive with motherhood. There’s so much around what a mom should look like.”
