Billionaire Elon Musk’s social media platform X (formerly Twitter) is currently experiencing a widespread outage affecting numerous countries, including Pakistan, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) confirmed on Saturday.
“This disruption follows a similar global outage faced by the platform on Thursday, May 22, which lasted for several hours before being resolved by the platform itself,” the authority stated.
“The PTA’s investigation into the matter has confirmed that there are no technical issues at Pakistan’s internet gateways.”
The PTA further added that all other internet services across the country remain fully functional.
It also cited the global internet observatory NetBlocks, which confirmed that the outages experienced by ‘X’ are international in nature and not related to any country-level internet disruptions or filtering.
“PTA continues to monitor the situation and will keep the public informed of any significant updates,” the telecom regulator said.
Meanwhile, Reuters reported that X was inaccessible for tens of thousands of users in the United States on Saturday, according to the outage tracking website Downdetector.com.
As of 8:39 AM EDT (12:39 PM PKT) on Saturday, Downdetector, which tracks outages by collating status reports from various sources, had recorded over 25,000 incidents of people reporting issues with the social media platform.
