In a recent interview with The Sun newspaper, singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran candidly spoke about the challenges he faced early in his career, admitting he felt “intensely unhappy” due to a lack of work-life balance.
“In the first decade of my career I was intensely unhappy as I had no balance; I was just work, work, work,” the 34-year-old artist shared. He explained that his “hyper-successful” career came at a significant cost: “I had no personal life at all.”
Sheeran said that getting married and having a family helped him find a better balance. He revealed that his personal life now makes up about 70% of his time, with work accounting for just 30%. In contrast, his early career was “100 per cent and zero anything else.”
The Perfect singer concluded by expressing his gratitude for this change, stating that he is now “really happy and settled.” He added that the biggest thing for him is “being able to balance being a dad and being a husband, and to feel like I am achieving both things to a good level.”
For those unfamiliar, Ed Sheeran married Cherry Seaborn in 2019, and the couple has two daughters, Lyra Antarctica and Jupiter.
