Strong earthquake tremors shook Pakistan’s federal capital, Islamabad, along with parts of Azad Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday, causing widespread panic among residents.
Fearful citizens were seen rushing out of their homes and offices into open areas, many reciting prayers. The tremors were also clearly felt across Rawalpindi, Murree, Peshawar, Bajaur, Samahni, and Bhimber.
According to the seismological center, the earthquake registered a magnitude of 5.3. Its epicenter was located in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan, originating at a significant depth of 234 kilometers underground. This depth caused the tremors to be felt over a vast distance.
Fortunately, there were no immediate reports of any loss of life or property damage from the affected regions.
