Eamonn Holmes was left “bruised, sore and a bit embarrassed” after an unexpected fall from his chair during a live broadcast of GB News on Wednesday morning. Despite the incident, the 65-year-old presenter continues to receive unwavering support from his employers and colleagues at the channel.
The unforeseen tumble occurred while Holmes was co-hosting the GB News breakfast show with Ellie Costello, leaving both viewers and guest commentator Charlie Rowley visibly stunned. According to the Daily Mail, the show was briefly interrupted as cameras cut away, with Holmes later humorously attributing the incident to the “wonky wheels” and “slippery” chairs used on set.
Furthermore, Holmes has faced a series of health challenges in recent years, including double hip replacement surgery, slipped discs, and ongoing spinal issues that have significantly impacted his mobility. The outlet also reported that he was hospitalized just two weeks prior following a fall at home.
Speaking after the on-air mishap, Holmes remarked, “It was a bit of a shock… I’m sore. Really sore.” He added that the fall aggravated the same areas of his neck and back that were affected in his earlier accident.
Additionally, a source close to GB News informed the publication, “Everyone at GB News is rallying around Eamonn. He’s had a horrendous couple of years, but he has the full support of the channel and all of his colleagues. Eamonn remains a massive part of the channel’s future and is adored by viewers and his co-presenters alike.”
Moreover, just hours after the incident, Holmes became visibly emotional during a podcast with former boxer Barry McGuigan. It is worth noting that the discussion turned deeply personal as the pair reflected on the deaths of their fathers.
