Disturbing footage captures the harrowing moments as bullets penetrated the walls and narrowly missed a nine-year-old boy during a drive-by shooting at a Fort Worth apartment complex in early May.
The incident occurred outside the Miramar apartments near 3000 Las Vegas Trail, where six individuals, including four children, were shot.
The mother of the boy seen in the footage expressed her son’s ongoing fear of being involved in another shooting, prompting their desire to relocate due to safety concerns.
Security camera footage obtained by NBC 5 shows nine-year-old Errol Hill sitting on his couch before dinner when chaos ensued. Bullets sprayed into the living room from the street, causing dust to envelop the boy as he quickly took cover.
Errol Hill recalled mistaking the gunfire for fireworks until he heard screams, prompting him to seek shelter.
His mother, Mary Jane Gonzales, rushed to ensure his safety, only to discover six people, including four children, had been shot in the drive-by.
As a medical assistant, Gonzales tended to the wounded, including a three-year-old child, whose condition deeply affected her.
The traumatic experience has left Gonzales and her family profoundly shaken, prompting their decision to seek relocation from the Miramar apartments, despite having recently signed a lease there.
Gonzales initiated a GoFundMe campaign to seek assistance from the community in facilitating their move to a safer area.
The Fort Worth Police Department is actively investigating the shooting and encourages anyone with information to come forward anonymously by contacting 817-392-4222.
