Novak Djokovic moved two wins away from his 100th career title, defeating Sebastian Korda 6-3, 7-6(4). Meanwhile, Aryna Sabalenka secured her first Miami Open final appearance with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Jasmine Paolini.
Djokovic, 37, celebrated with a triumphant roar after an ace on match point, with his coach Andy Murray mirroring his excitement. After trailing Korda 5-2 in the second set, Djokovic broke back at 5-3, using his strong serve to clinch the match.
This win makes Djokovic the oldest ATP Masters 1000 semi-finalist, surpassing Roger Federer.
Djokovic, aiming for a record seventh Miami Open title, will face Grigor Dimitrov in the semi-finals.
In the women’s draw, Sabalenka dominated Paolini, winning 77% of her first-serve points and saving all break points.
Sabalenka will now play Jessica Pegula, who ended Alexandra Eala’s impressive run in a three-set match.
Pegula, who fought back from 2-5 down in the first set, eventually prevailed in a late-night thriller.
Eala, who defeated three Grand Slam champions during her run, received a standing ovation from the crowd.
