ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has extended his congratulations to the Hindu community in Pakistan and around the world on the occasion of Diwali, describing the festival as a powerful symbol of hope, unity, and positive thinking.
In his message, the Prime Minister emphasized the festival’s deep spiritual meaning, noting that Diwali “reflects the celebration of the victory of light over darkness and hope over despair.” He urged, “On this occasion, we should collectively look to the future with positive thinking, unity, and brotherhood.”
Highlighting Pakistan’s multicultural fabric, Sharif stated that the nation takes pride in its diversity. “Pakistan is proud of its cultural and religious diversity; this diversity strengthens our national stream,” he said.
The Prime Minister paid tribute to the Hindu community’s contributions to Pakistan’s development, acknowledging their significant role in the nation’s social, economic, and political spheres.
He invoked the vision of the nation’s founder, stating, “Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah envisioned a Pakistan where all citizens enjoy equal rights and freedoms, irrespective of religion, race, or caste.”
Sharif reaffirmed his government’s commitment to these founding values and to ensuring equal opportunities for all communities. He concluded with a prayer that the festival of lights “promotes peace, prosperity, and interfaith harmony, further strengthening the bonds of unity and brotherhood among all religions in Pakistan.”
