A recent disclosure has revealed that 201 Afghan students are currently enrolled across various universities in Pakistan’s southwestern province of Balochistan. This presence highlights the region’s enduring educational and historical ties, though it simultaneously raises questions regarding the students’ legal status and academic continuation.
The latest statistics detail the distribution of these students across major institutions in Balochistan:
- University of Balochistan: 84 Afghan students
- BUITEMS University: 59 Afghan students
- Women University Quetta: 36 Afghan students
- Loralai University: 22 Afghan students
University administrations have stated that a majority of these students have already returned to Afghanistan after concluding their study programs. The remaining students have reportedly been instructed to return to their home country, acquire the necessary visa documentation, and then return to Pakistan to complete their education.
This situation underscores the complex legal and travel challenges faced by Afghan students and refugees in Pakistan, particularly amid current geopolitical dynamics between the two nations.
