Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir: The Special Communication Organization (SCO) continues to play a vital role in the economic development of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan by establishing a new freelancing hub specifically for women in Mirpur. This initiative is considered a crucial milestone towards fulfilling the commitment to women’s economic empowerment in the region.
According to details, the Director General of the SCO formally inaugurated the state-of-the-art digital center in Mirpur, AJK. This new hub is part of the SCO’s “Vision 2025,” an ongoing mission to provide modern IT facilities at 100 different locations across AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan. Significantly, the SCO had previously established the first Software Technology Park for women in Muzaffarabad.
The setup of the freelancing hub in Mirpur is a major step toward creating a secure, connected, and empowered digital ecosystem for women. These specialized centers offer youth training, technical support, and access to high-quality, high-speed internet, preparing them for the international freelancing market.
The primary objective behind establishing these modern IT centers is to empower the youth of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, equip them with essential digital skills, and generate remote employment opportunities. The local community has widely praised the SCO’s sustained efforts towards the digital and regional development of the area.
