A grand and memorable celebration was held in Lauderhill, Florida, to honor the Pakistan cricket team’s impressive T20 series victory against the West Indies. The event saw enthusiastic participation from the local Pakistani community, along with key Pakistani government officials and prominent religious, social, business, and media personalities based in the United States.
The ceremony was organized by renowned Pakistani-American Democratic leader Tahir Javed, who lauded the national team’s performance and offered his best wishes to the players. He characterized the event as a powerful reflection of national unity and the shared passion of Pakistanis worldwide.
Among the distinguished guests were Federal Interior Minister and Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi; Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resources, Chaudhry Salik Hussain; and Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh. The guest list also included Mian Tahir Ismail, President of the Islamic Center of Greater Miami; Mian Mushtaq, a well-known Florida businessman; Raees Ahmed, Director of JRJ Innovations; Amin Markatia, CEO of Azan Holdings; Afzal Qureshi, President of Cricket Council USA; Ahsan Asad, a board member of ICNA Social Justice USA; Musharraf Khan, Director of Asia Times; and Dr. Asim Asad, Head of ICNA Social Justice USA.
Attendees expressed their joy and national pride by chanting slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad” and waving the national flag. A beautifully decorated cake was also cut to commemorate the victory, adding to the festive atmosphere.
A highlight of the event was when Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh joined the celebration by waving their hands to the music and performing a lighthearted bhangra dance. The crowd erupted in applause as the atmosphere became electric with a sense of unity and national pride. A widely circulated video on social media captured Ambassador Sheikh stepping beyond his official role, warmly mingling with the diaspora and expressing genuine happiness over the team’s triumph—a true display of heartfelt patriotism and connection with the people.
In his speech, host Tahir Javed praised PCB Chairman Naqvi’s efforts to promote young talent and modernize the national team. He remarked that the results of these visionary steps would soon be apparent and stated that this victory was more than just a sports achievement; it was a powerful symbol of national dignity and unity that every Pakistani could take pride in. The celebration served as a vivid portrait of the love and loyalty for the homeland that is deeply rooted in the hearts of overseas Pakistanis.
