The bilateral energy trade between Pakistan and the United States has intensified following a major commercial agreement, marked by the arrival of the second large US crude oil tanker within Pakistan’s maritime boundaries. This development signals a significant step towards diversifying the country’s energy sources and strengthening international trade relations.
The American crude oil tanker, ‘MT Albany,’ was scheduled for berthing at the Synrejco oil terminal on Monday evening. The MT Albany is the second large US oil carrier to reach Pakistani ports, symbolizing the growing energy partnership between the two nations.
Synrejco has pioneered the import of American West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil into Pakistan, bringing in two massive cargoes, each comprising 1 million barrels. This strategic import is set to ensure a stable supply of crude oil to domestic refineries. Synrejco Oil Company delivered the US tanker to its offshore oil terminal located in Balochistan.
This import streak began on October 29 with the arrival of the first US cargo vessel, ‘MT Pegasus,’ which had departed from Houston on September 14. Officials confirm that this marks the formal commencement of bilateral energy trade in the wake of the major commercial agreement signed between Islamabad and Washington.
