KARACHI: A Judicial Magistrate (South) has granted a one-day physical remand for two police officers implicated in the tragic death of a young man, Muhammad Irfan, who died while in police custody.
The two accused officers, ASI Abid Shah and Constable Asif Ali, were presented before the court on Monday. The judge approved their one-day remand for further investigation and ordered that they be presented again on October 28.
The case involves deeply disturbing allegations. According to the police report, the officers arrested Muhammad Irfan and subjected him to severe torture, which ultimately led to his death.
In a shocking twist, it is also alleged that after the young man died, the officers registered a criminal case against him, in an apparent attempt to cover up the incident.
Four other police personnel who were allegedly involved with the accused—ASI Sarfaraz and Constables Waqar, Humayun, and Fayyaz—have been absconding since the incident occurred. A case against the accused officers has been formally registered at the Saddar police station.
