Sunnie Dyer, Danny Dyer’s youngest daughter, recently shared how witnessing her father’s addiction “struggle” has influenced her career path and life choices.
The 18-year-old, who recently accompanied the actor to the BAFTA TV Awards, offered insights into her upbringing and how the challenging times she experienced have shaped many of her life decisions.
“Seeing my dad go through difficult periods was very, very tough,” she told The Sun, emphasizing how these experiences have led her to establish clear boundaries regarding alcohol consumption.
Sunnie continued, “Now, if he were struggling, we could have an open conversation, but when I was younger, I wouldn’t have understood.”
“I was very shielded. I didn’t grasp what was happening at home, but then I would go to primary school, and people would talk about it, and I wouldn’t really have a clue. It’s very sad,” she further elaborated.
Despite these challenging times, Sunnie described her father, Danny Dyer, as her “best friend” and the inspiration behind her aspiration to win a BAFTA – an award her renowned father secured last year in the Best Male Performance in a Comedy category for his role in Mr Bigstuff.
