Summer isn’t a break for the basketball squad at Faith Family Academy in Dallas; it’s all about hard work and dedication. Their track record speaks for itself, boasting multiple State Championships and even counting a former player who competed in the NBA Finals among their ranks.
“Jordan has always dreamt of being in the NBA,” remarked Brandon Thomas, the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Faith Family Academy. “He set that aspiration when he was young, and he’s put in relentless effort to make it a reality.”
Jordan Walsh, now a rookie player for the Boston Celtics, has made his alma mater immensely proud.
“Today, I was advised not to wear green, but my pride is overflowing with the green spirit,” stated Dr. Mollie Purcell Mozley, the superintendent of Faith Family Academy, in reference to the Celtics’ team color. “He has established a legacy here, inspiring these young men to believe that if Jordan could achieve it, so can they!”
Walsh holds the distinction of being the first basketball player from Faith Family Academy to ascend to the NBA, a feat that underscores the strong foundation he received at the school.
“This institution provided the bedrock, not just for basketball, but for family too,” remarked Sandra Walsh, Jordan’s mother.
And at Faith Family Academy, family always supports one another.
“I believe it’s perfectly acceptable to cheer for multiple teams and individuals,” noted Coach Thomas. “It’s a win-win situation for the city. When Jordan succeeds, the city thrives. And when the Mavericks triumph, we all win.”
“Blood is thicker than water,” chimed in Walsh with a wide grin. “Go, Celtics!”
