Michael Irvin is expanding his presence in the DFW area with Playmakers88, a new upscale sports bar and restaurant set to open this Friday. The grand opening festivities will begin at 5 p.m. and span two days, featuring live music, stand-up comedy, and appearances by celebrities.
Day two of the grand opening will include giveaways, autograph sessions, and photo opportunities from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Throughout the weekend celebration, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Dallas, a cause that holds personal significance for Irvin and his family.
“I am truly honored to introduce an upscale sports bar and restaurant where sports enthusiasts can gather to support their favorite teams and athletes, enjoying excellent food, cocktails, and camaraderie,” said Irvin. “My goal is for every guest at Playmakers88 to experience the excitement, energy, and passion I have for the sports community and the DFW area as a whole.”
Upon entering the contemporary-style venue, patrons will be greeted by a tribute to the famous Ring of Honor, featuring images of Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and Michael Irvin — renowned as “The Triplets.” Additional members of the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor are also highlighted throughout the bar area.
Playmakers88 spans 7,000 square feet and accommodates over 250 guests with bar-top, lounge, and booth-style seating. The space boasts 50 flat-screen TVs, surround sound, upbeat music, and a pool table. Celebrity Chef Rassuan “RJ” Johnson will oversee the kitchen, offering a diverse menu that includes crab cakes, chicken wings, burgers, pasta, Southern cuisine, and seafood entrees.
“It’s truly a full-circle moment. I’ve enjoyed Chef RJ’s cuisine for years, so having him lead our menu is a great honor and a wonderful treat for our guests,” added Irvin.
Located at 5005 State Highway 121 in The Colony, Playmakers88 will open daily from 11 a.m. to midnight.
