Customs Enforcement Multan has dealt a significant and decisive blow to smuggling networks by successfully seizing a large consignment of illegal foreign cigarettes valued at over 2 crore rupees (20 million). The operation is being lauded as a crucial step towards safeguarding the national economy from the impact of illicit trade.
According to officials from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the high-value cigarettes were confiscated during an intelligence-based operation carried out within Multan city, marking a substantial loss for the smuggling network.
FBR authorities provided context on their ongoing crackdown against smuggling, stating that in the current month alone, customs officials have seized 10,500 packets and a total of 2.14 million cigarette sticks. Authorities have emphasized that strict actions against smugglers will continue unabated across the country to discourage the illegal tobacco business.
