The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (CERT) has released a significant advisory for social media users throughout Pakistan, strongly urging them to exercise caution when sharing content related to ongoing military and national security developments.
This advisory is issued amidst heightened regional tensions and increased sensitivity surrounding the flow of digital information. It cautions users against disseminating unverified posts, rumours, and misinformation that could potentially be detrimental to national interests.
“Refrain from sharing photos, videos, or information concerning military movements, operations, or any sensitive incident,” the advisory stated, further noting that such actions could jeopardize operational security and aid hostile entities.
The National CERT underscored the importance of verifying all content through proven evidence or reliable sources before making it public. It warned the public to steer clear of emotionally charged and sensational content, which is often employed to incite panic or manipulate public opinion.
“Disseminating false or unverified information can disrupt public order and present a serious threat to national security,” the advisory cautioned.
