Rawalpindi — In a major legal development, an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi has ordered the seizure of Aleema Khan’s national identity card and passport, citing her repeated absence from court proceedings. Aleema Khan is the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, Imran Khan.
The court also directed authorities to freeze all of Aleema Khan’s bank accounts. Official instructions have been issued to NADRA and the immigration department to ensure compliance and prevent her from leaving the country.
Additionally, the court ordered the confiscation of property belonging to her guarantor, Umar Sharif, as he failed to ensure Aleema Khan’s appearance before the court.
The case relates to a protest held on November 26, 2023, in which Aleema Khan and ten other individuals are accused. The presiding judge, Amjad Ali Shah, remarked that while Aleema Khan is often visible in public, she has consistently failed to appear before the court.
The hearing has been adjourned until October 27, with the court emphasizing that legal obligations apply equally to all, regardless of status or family background.
