Recent security force operations have intensified in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. According to local sources, fighter jets targeted militant hideouts in the Bakkakhel area of Bannu district, resulting in the death and injury of several terrorists. The strikes on Saturday and Sunday destroyed a community hall and a school that militants were using as safe havens and for storing explosives, rocket launchers, and ammunition.
Meanwhile, the military’s media wing, ISPR, confirmed that security forces killed 31 terrorists during intelligence-based operations in the Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts. The official statement did not mention the aerial strikes. ISPR stated that the operations were conducted following reports of the presence of “Khawarij,” a term used by the state to refer to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). During the operation in Lakki Marwat, 14 terrorists were eliminated, and in a separate operation in Bannu, 17 more terrorists were neutralized. Security forces reaffirmed their resolve to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country.
Balochistan Attack: Five Security Personnel Martyred In a tragic incident in Balochistan’s Kech district, five security personnel, including an officer, were martyred in an explosion. Official sources confirmed the attack, stating that militants planted an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Mand area, near the Pak-Iran border. The device was remotely detonated to target a vehicle traveling between tehsil Dashat and Mand.
The martyred personnel were identified as Captain Waqar Kakar, Naik Junaid, Naik Asmat, Lance Naik Khan Muhammad, and Sepoy Zahoor Ahmed. Following the incident, security forces rushed to the site and transported the bodies to nearby health facilities. The banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti paid tribute to the martyred officer on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Another brave son of Balochistan, Captain Waqar Kakar, embraced martyrdom while defending the people and his beloved Pakistan. His sacrifice will forever remain a shining chapter of courage and honor. Balochistan and Pakistan will never forget you.”
