A Corsicana school employee was flown to a hospital by air ambulance on Thursday after sustaining serious injuries during a “disruption” in a classroom, according to the district.
Corsicana ISD shared an update on Facebook from Collins Intermediate Principal Tiffany Boortz, noting that an employee had been hospitalized due to the incident. The employee, who has not been named, was transported by air ambulance to a local hospital, though their condition has not been disclosed.
The district emphasized that while the “disruption” occurred in a classroom, “no other students or staff were ever in danger.” Specific details about the nature of the injury, the circumstances of the disruption, or the staff member’s role have not been provided.
During the incident, Boortz reported that students and staff remained in their classrooms for safety. The district is prioritizing the well-being of its staff and has deployed additional administrators and counselors to the campus for the rest of the week to maintain a secure environment.
Collins Intermediate, which caters to 5th and 6th graders, is currently under investigation by Corsicana ISD police regarding the incident.
