Terrorists launched coordinated attacks on two police stations and a police post in the Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa late Friday night, leading to an exchange of gunfire between the assailants and security personnel, officials reported.
According to police sources, unidentified motorcyclists hurled two hand grenades at the Khojri police post. However, no casualties were reported in the attack.
Following the incident, local residents armed themselves to support the police and announced that community elders would play an active role in safeguarding the post.
Meanwhile, militants also targeted the Bakakhel and Ghoriwala police stations, where gunfire was exchanged between security forces and the attackers. The simultaneous incidents at three different locations spread panic throughout the region.
Security forces have launched a search operation in the area to apprehend the assailants, while law enforcement agencies have tightened security measures to prevent further attacks.
Local residents have pledged to cooperate with the police in countering terrorist threats, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining peace in the area.
