The Indian Air Force (IAF) has reported an accident after one of its trainer aircraft crashed in Tambaram, located within the Chennai Metropolitan Area. The incident resulted in the destruction of the aircraft, but the pilot survived, having successfully performed an emergency maneuver.
According to Indian media reports, the IAF PC-7 trainer jet was on a routine training flight when it went down. Crucially, the pilot managed to eject from the aircraft just moments before the crash, saving his life.
Authorities have swiftly ordered a Court of Inquiry to immediately investigate the causes of the accident. Such incidents underscore the inherent risks involved in military training operations, but in this case, the successful use of the ejection system ensured that a valuable life was preserved.
