Carrie Underwood just recalled Simon Cowell’s critique from one of her 2005 American Idol performances.
Now, the 42-year-old, shared her reaction to the iconic judge’s opinion back when she performed her version of the song Bless The Broken Road by Rascal Flatts.
At that time, even though he admitted that Underwood sang the song “beautifully” and that the performance was “very good,” he called her delivery “robotic.”
Taking to her official Instagram account, the Grammy-winning musician said of the analysis, “He wasn’t wrong.”
“I will say he wasn’t wrong. I feel like in these moments — I mean, it was top five — I don’t know if it’s the time to go out on a limb and do anything crazy,” she further admitted.
The American Idol victor also noted, “So like, picking something that you’re comfortable with, but then trying to work with the staging. “
“But then also — I consider myself a vocalist, like I want to sing things well. And if I ever try to think too much about what I’m doing on stage, I feel like my vocals suffer,” she added.
“So [Simon] was not wrong,” Carrie Underwood concluded.
