Lola Bonfiglio, daughter of Carnie Wilson, is moving on to the next round of ‘American Idol’ after a successful first audition.
Bonfiglio made her ‘Idol’ debut on Sunday, enlisting her famous family members for support.
Her mother, Carnie, and aunt, Wendy Wilson—two members of Wilson Phillips—made a special appearance to sing harmonies on their iconic song, “Hold On,” alongside Bonfiglio.
Bonfiglio’s father, Rob Bonfiglio, accompanied her on guitar. Chynna Phillips, the third member of Wilson Phillips, was not present.
‘Idol’ judges Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie were surprised and delighted to see Carnie and Wendy Wilson. Underwood was particularly starstruck, lip-syncing along to “Hold On.”
Bonfiglio also performed a solo rendition of “Rainbow” by Kacey Musgraves. Carnie Wilson was moved to tears watching her daughter sing, wiping her eyes with a tissue.
Underwood, Bryan, and Richie praised Bonfiglio’s “beauty” and “honesty” in her voice, but encouraged her to be more confident and fill the room. Ultimately, they were impressed and gave Bonfiglio three yeses, sending the 19-year-old singer to the next round.
After the audition, the judges and crew members joined in singing “Hold On” in the audition room, while Bonfiglio and her family celebrated outside.
“I love you and I’m so proud of you,” Carnie Wilson told her daughter. “You were born to sing, that’s just the bottom line.”
